The Centre of Natural Hazards and Disaster Science (CNDS) was once again strongly represented at the EGU General Assembly, held in Vienna in 27 April - 2 May 2025

With thousands of researchers from across the globe in attendance, the event provides an invaluable platform for scientific exchange, maintaining and spurring new interdisciplinary collaborations.

Almost 20 CNDS researchers – both senior and early-career – contributed actively throughout the week with oral presentations, posters, and session organization on a wide range of topics related to natural hazards and disaster science. Topics ranged from the drivers and future projections of weather extremes, to the impacts of compound disasters, and approaches to bridging natural and social sciences to better understand societal disaster responses.

A big thank you to all CNDS colleagues and to the European Geosciences Union for making this such a dynamic and engaging event. We are already looking forward to EGU 2026!
