CNDS at SciFest – Learning About Risk and Resilience Through the Game Riskville

Riskville scifest

– This game allows participants to experience how different decisions can strengthen or weaken a community’s resilience. It’s both educational and fun, said by one of the visitors.

At this year’s SciFest, CNDS together with CEMUS participated with the interactive game Riskville, where students and visitors could explore how decision-making affects a society’s vulnerability to crises and natural hazards.

In the game, participants take on the role of decision-makers in a fictional city, making strategic choices about urban planning, resources, and preparedness. Through gameplay, complex relationships between natural events, social systems, and human action are made visible in an engaging and accessible way.

CNDS Phd-student Geoffrey De Sena and student coordinators from CEMUS were present to facilitate the activity and discuss how research on risk, disasters, and sustainable development can be applied in practice.
