Possible explanation to several earthquakes in the Santorini area

Santorini
An international team of researchers has found coupled magma system between Santorini and Kolumbo. The article publised in Nature, reveals how magma from inside the Earth has pushed up into the fractured crust in this area, forming a 13-kilometre-long dike.
In the beginning of 2025 the island Santorini was struck by several earthquakes. The resurgence of magmatic activity beneath both volcanic centres and their apparent coupling provides insights into the dynamic interplay of magma storage, transport and reservoir failure beneath neighbouring volcanoes. Understanding how magma moves between different volcanoes in the area provides a better understanding of how things might develop next time, says CNDS Björn Lund to Swedish Radio
