Last October, the Faculty of Science and Technology at Uppsala Univeristy hosted representatives of the Swedish Defence Research Agency (FOI) and the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB) with the aim of opening new ways of collaborations between academia and Sweden's military and civil defense.
As a leading interdisciplinary centre specializing in natural hazards and disaster science, the Centre for Natural Hazards and Disaster Science (CNDS) was invited to participate in the meeting, together with other researchers from other relevant fields. Due to CNDS' focus on cultivating insights into the interplay between societal vulnerabilities and disasters, the center is in a very good position to understand future trends in alredy complex phenomena.
